Fernando Birri is known as the «Father of the New Latin American Cinema». Born in Santa Fé (Argentina) he studied film in Italy at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome and returned to Santa Fe in Argentina, where he founded the first film school specialized in documentary in Latin America.
