Parti de Sofia, Kamen se rend en stop à Roussé, dans le nord de la Bulgarie. Sur la route, il rencontre Avé, une jeune fugueuse un peu paumée de 17 ans, qui lui impose rapidement sa compagnie.

Twenty-seven-year-old Noriko lives with her widowed father, a university professor, in a small house in the tranquil surroundings of northern Kamakura.
