Biographie

Shanghai filmmaker Shu Haolun (舒浩仑） made a name for himself a few years back with his personal documentary Nostalgia 《乡愁》, an exploration of the nong tangs where he grew up and which are slated for destruction. He's just come out with a new film, a 20 minute fiction film called Young Blood 《少年血》, that also explores 1980s Shanghai life, telling the story of young teenage love. There was a screening last month (sorry to be telling you now, we're ridiculously out of the loops), but there should be more in the future.

Shanghai, 89 Shimen Lu (2011) La trame de ce premier film se passe à la fin des années 1980, à Shanghai. Dans cette ville tentaculaire, un garçon de 16 ans, Xiaoli dont la mère a émigré aux Etats-Unis, vit apparemment en paix, entouré de son voisinage et de son grand-père. Et surtout de sa meilleure amie, Lanmi qui travaille en usine. Très proche d'elle, Xiaoli commence à souffrir lorsqu'il prend conscience que Lanmi dérive loin de lui, attirée par les possibilités nouvelles de la Chine qui s'ouvre à la culture occidentale, aux produits et biens étrangers, et aux milieux des affaires.
