Danis Tanović
Born in Zenica in Yugoslavia in 1969, after
qualifying as a civil engineer and a musician,
he began studying at the Sarajevo Film
Academy. His studies were interrupted,
however, by the outbreak of the Bosnian War.
He accompanied the Bosnian army with his
camera during the war and then moved to
Brussels to resume his film studies. His feature
debut NO MAN‘S LAND won a Palme d‘Or
at Cannes in 2001 alongside an Oscar and a
Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.
He was a member of the Cannes jury in 2003.

An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker (2013)
Nazif, rentrant de son travail, voit sa femme Senada se tordre de douleur. Le médecin leur apprend que l'enfant à naître est mort et qu'elle doit absolument se faire opérer de toute urgence. Mais la clinique de la région refuse de pratiquer l'opération car le couple n'a ni argent, ni assurance.
